Miss. Kayama was the mother of the popular idol Nami Kayama. She had sacrificed her youth, beauty and much of her life in ensuring her daughter's fame, ironically gaining nothing but her daughters ire in the process. Her over-protective nature grew into a heavy complex, causing enough mental instability to begin transforming into a crow-like Devilbeast. She was a antagonist in the manga, 'Devilman Lady'.
Appearance[]
As a human she was a large, pig-like and obese woman. She wore tacky clothes and had her dark hair tied in a tight bun. A stark contrast to the slender, dark haired beauty she once was only some ten-odd years prior.
As a Devil Beast, she lost much of her weight, and sprouted black feathers from her chest, arms and head. She had large dark wings, replacing her arms. Tail feathers sprung from her lower back and her feet resembled claws. She had wide eyes, a stubby beak lined with sharp teeth and a long, oft drooling tongue.
Personality[]
Before her partner had left her for another woman, she was described as a happy carefree girl, though one that had issues with her father growing up. After the break up, Mrs. Kayama committed herself entirely to her daughter. Though instead of showing it through love and affection, she became viscous and belligerent. She fought for her daughters fame and popularity, but alienated her in the process. The stress of it all took a heavy toll on her, gaining a lot of weight and loosing her looks, becoming a glutton and bully. In spite of the sacrifices her mother had given for her, Nami was at times unable to decide if she loved her or hated her.
Abilities[]
In her Devil beast form she could fly at fast speeds with her wings, and used her claws to cut and tear. She had had a strong level of durability, able to survive a broken neck and repeated levels of head trauma, to a point.
History[]
As a child, she grew up with an abusive, alcoholic father. Later in her twenties, she met an American soldier, whom she fell in love with. They spent several happy years together, even having a daughter together whom they named Nami. Eventually the American left her for a younger woman, breaking her heart. She committed herself to her daughter, and fought tooth and nail for her success as a idol. She succeeded at this, at the cost of her beauty and love of her daughter, who had resented her for some time due to her greedy, belligerent and over-protective nature.
Shortly before one of Nami's performances, she and her manager, Suganuma, talk about Siren's and other ancient Greek myths when her mother comes running through, yelling at the two for not being ready, much to Nami's annoyance. Nami's resentment is obvious, though Miss. Kayama seem's entirely oblivious to her daughters disgust.
That night, she flew across the sky in her corvid form when she comes across a drunken man that reminded her of her father. She swoops down and claws his face leaving him screaming in pain. Shortly after, she attacks a couple in a car, causing them to fly of a cliff, and die in the resulting crash.
The next day, after the H. A. takes notice of the attacks, Jun Fudo and Lan Asuka are sent to investigate, arming themselves with BB Enzyme Guns. As the two wait in a stake out, Miss. Kayama spies a woman that she recognized as a reporter, that had ignored Nami in a interview some time prior, and swoops down for the kill. Lan and Jun hear her screams and split up to try and trace the noise. Lan arrives first, discovering Miss. Kayama in the midst of the attack. She leaps at Lan, but is repelled when Lan fires several Enzyme bullets into her chest.
Jun arrives to find Lan checking on the reporter, who had passed out from the shock. Jun picks Lan up and they tail the Devil Beast to her apartment. Inside Nami is shocked to see the feathered creature come through her window, however as the Enzyme bullets take effect, Miss. Kayama looses her bestial form as she reverts back to a human. Nami runs to help her, just as Lan and Jun burst through the door. Jun pleads for Nami to let them take her mother away to help her condition, however Nami instead screams at them, accusing them of trying to ruin her reputation and starts to transform herself, She attacks Lan, knocking her out, and starts to shred at her clothing. At the same time Jun transforms into Devil Lady and attacks Miss. Kayama, who had began to transform once more, and breaks her neck. Nami is enraged and attacks Jun, the two fly outside to continue their battle mid-air. Meanwhile Lan, regaining her senses sees Miss. Kayama sneaking up behind her, thinking fast Lan grabs a vase and smashes her on the head with it repeatedly till only a bloodied pulp was left. Miss. Kayama dies in her apartment, and just outside, her daughter is subdued by Jun and taken away by the H. A..
